Invisalign is an innovative system of clear, orthodontic shells or aligners that are designed to gradually move teeth. After multiple sets of the aligners, the teeth move into their proper position and the end result is straighter, healthier teeth. The first step in the Invisalign process is to have a consultation to see if you are a candidate for treatment. Simple dental impressions and diagnostic records, along with the doctor’s detailed treatment plan, are then sent to Align Technology, the Invisalign laboratory. At Align Technology, the impressions are processed and scanned by their advanced imaging software and eventually custom aligners are fabricated. However, before the aligners are actually produced, a 3-D model of how the teeth will move is sent to electronically review.
